This is a reminder to all 2nd degree Knights that a 3rd Degree exemplification is being held on Saturday April 18, 2009 at 1 p.m. at he Regina Coeli Council in Easton. If you can attend please contact Tim Connollyso that we can make arramgements. We will car pool from the council home,w ith the time for that to be announced.

Shorebirds concession on 4-21-09 beginning at 5 p.m. see Brother Tom sample to sign up; 4-23 thru 4-26-09 French Fry concession at the Salisbury Festival; set up on Thursday evening beginning at 6 p.m. meet at the council home, Friday 4-24 beginning at 8 a.m. and again on Saturday 4-25; breakdown and clean up on 4-26. Please help with these events.

Habitat for 3-27-09 cancelled

In an e mail from our Habitat coordinator he has advised that the project scheduled for this Friday 3-27-09 has been cancelled. He will have details on a new Habitat project at the next council meeting.

Pasta Extravaganza in January-We REALLY need help

At the last meeting Grand knight Steve asked for all interested parties to talk with me(Mike) after the meeting. I'm sorry to say, not one person stepped foreword to that request. I've agreed to help with the cooking,but there is a lot to get done if this is going to be a successful fund raiser for St. Francis de Sales Church,by the Knights of Columbus. We will need a Man Power Captain and a Communications Captain. I've talked to Joyce and a proposal for the flyer/insert to the church bulletin needs to be to her by December 31st for approval(if we are to make it on time ) This flyer will both advertise the dinner and act as a order form for pre-orders. At Thursday night's (12/18) meeting we must iron all this out or postpone this endeavor until we can get more participation.

Council Home Christmas lighting

The council home Christmas display was put up recently. When it was set up it was done during the day and no one realized what a special effect that was going to be created when the scene was lit up at night. I am sure that there was more behind the scene help than any of us could have imagined. May the blessings of Advent and Christmas be with everyone.

Council Christmas Party

Our council's Christmas party was held Friday evening 12-5-08. There was a wonderful turnout and Santa Claus arrived for the children that were present. I want to thank everyone who assisted in making this social event the great success that it was.

Cops for Kids Presentation

At our regular business meeting on 12-4-08 Grand Knight Steve Schweikert on behalf of St. Francis de Sales Council 3489 presented a $100.00 gift card to Sgt. Brian Beaver of the Salisbury Police Department. Sgt. Beaver was the representative for the departments Cops for Kids program. The program annually helps needy children and their families at Christmas. The gift card was given to the program to assist in purchasing items to give to the needy children and families in the Salisbury area.

KofC Council Christmas Party

A reminder to all our brothers and their families, the annual Christmas Party will be held on Friday December 5, 2008 beginning at 5:30 p.m. Brother Mike Trail will be doing the meats and everyone is asked to bring a covered dish. Santa will arrive for the kids. Please contact Grand Knight Steve Schweikert via e mail and give him a count of the number of children you are bringing. Please do this by Wednesday December 3.

KofC Memorial Mass

Founder of the Knights of Columbus

The Knights of Columbus was founded in 1882 in New Haven Conneticut by Father Michael J. McGivney. He found the order as a way to assist Catholic men and their families at a time when Catholics were widely discriminated against. The order has grown to over 1.7 million men and Father McGivney is being considered for sainthood and earlier this year was declared "venerable" by the Holy Father.

The order has four main principles, Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.
